There’s not much that’s better than relaxing out on the patio in the middle of summer. But it’s also wise to take occasional breaks from direct sunshine and the best solution of course is to go and take a cool break underneath your nice, effective patio umbrella.

Patio umbrellas are similar to a normal rain umbrella, except that they are usually going to be larger and thicker. But they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes in reality. In fact, there is such a large range on the market that there is likely to be a patio umbrella that tickles your fancy - whatever it is that you require and prefer and however fussy you are and unusual your tastes!

Regardless of the shape or style of your patio, it shouldn’t be too hard to find one that matches and compliments the area. An offset patio umbrella is one where the pole is not in the center of the table. Instead, it is set off to the side. It can be attached to the patio rail or sometimes it has legs to become a freestanding, moveable umbrella. The advantage of this is that it covers more space over head while providing more table space below.

The market style of patio umbrella, just like the traditional kind, fits into a table that already has a hole in the center. It is often made of lightweight material, making it highly portable and adaptable. They can also be used in freestanding mode - handy if you wanted to lie on a lounger in the shade for example.

Probably the most versatile of all umbrellas is the gazebo umbrella. This is an excellent umbrella for ayone who enjoys dining outdoors. It usually also has a net which keeps annoying bugs away so that the meal can be enjoyed. Because the net is machine washable and easily removed, this is the most popular kind of patio umbrella.

Before rushing out and buying your new umbrella, it’s wise to spend a little time on your patio envisaging how it will look with a new umbrella. Consider the purpose of the umbrella (in order to be able to choose the right type) and also try and decide on a certain shade or color that is going to compliment the surroundings. You might also want to work out if the umbrella is going to be subject to rough treatment or weather and if you should factor this into your decision.

You may want to buy an umbrella that comes with a protective cover. Or, you may already have a storage space set aside so that you can put the umbrella away when it is not being regularly used. Be sure to know the dimensions of this space when going out to make the purchase, so that you can buy one that will fit in this space.

Finally, it’s worth looking if the umbrella that you plan to purchase is made of fade resistant material - particularly if it is likely to be exposed to strong sunlight for extended periods of time. Hopefully these tips will help you to buy the perfect umbrella for your patio.
